His energy and the techniques he uses when he performs draws the listeners in.

Can your ideas be as great as sliced bread? During February 2003, in Monterey, California, Seth Godin gives a presentation on about going beyond the average business. The original idea of sliced bread failed because it was not marketed well. Wonder got a hold of the idea and was able to spread the word and these days you hardly see whole bread on the shelves of your local grocery stores. Seth Godin challenges ideas and products with the question “is it remarkable?”
Godin says “you’ve got to figure out how to get your ideas to spread”. Television and other forms of mass media advertisement made it easy, but consumers don’t care about the specific company or where the idea came from. Today’s world has too many choices and not nearly enough time, to be successful you need to find the people who are listening. Godin’s presentation points out that the majority of consumers are hard to market to. Quality ideas and products should be marketed to the smaller crowd and then those people will spread the word.

The news has been replaced by celebrity gossip. Alisa Miller reports the ‘News About the News’ in Monterey, California during February 2008. Alisa Miller is the President and CEO of the Public Radio International and oversees 400 hours of programming a week. She points out in her speech that the news pays more attention to Anna Nicole’s Death rather than the dismantling of bombs in North Korea or the flooding in Indonesia. The local news in 2007 only dedicated 12 percent to international news.
Miller says “News networks have reduced the number of foreign bureaus by half,” and “there are no network news bureaus in all of Africa, India or South America, places that are home to more then two billion people.” The news is skewed it is cheaper to cover celebrity gossip then international business.

Have you been late to class at Linn Benton Community College because you were driving around in circles? Students looking for a parking spot at LBCC this week may have had a few troubles due to the lack of space. The first three days of classes overflow parking was available on the grass but Thursday it was closed due to rain. LBCC has a large increase of full time students this fall which may make things a little cramped not only in the classrooms but also the parking lot.

I spoke with LBCC Student Casi Ward and she said "On days that my classes start later it takes me a little longer to find a parking spot, but I often find one further out."

Samantha Spencer, student at LBCC, said "Finding a parking spot hasn’t been too much of a bother early in the morning.”

There are few solutions, but LBCC has provided alternative parking locations.When I spoke with Marcene Olson, LBCC Safety and Loss Prevention Department, she pointed out that anytime LBCC's parking is full, students may park on Looney Lane near the soccer field or at Central Willamette Credit Union in their north parking lot. "LBCC doesn't know if the influx of full time students is going to continue, but if it does, the administration will need to come up with a plan for more parking" said Marcene. The security office recommends carpooling or riding the bus as alternatives to driving.
